Quectel Debuts Wi-Fi 7 Modules With Bluetooth 6.0 for Streaming and Gaming

The FCE870X and FME170X share the same high-end feature set across two package formats, giving product teams a choice between embedded and modular designs.

Quectel Wireless Solutions has launched the FCE870X and FME170X, a pair of tri-band Wi-Fi 7 modules with integrated Bluetooth 6.0 aimed at set-top boxes, gaming devices, digital signage, and other connectivity-hungry consumer electronics. Built around Synaptics' SYN4384 chipset, the two modules offer an identical feature set in different footprints, letting designers pick embedded or modular integration without sacrificing performance.

One Chipset, Two Package Options

The FCE870X ships in a compact 15.0 mm × 13.0 mm × 2.0 mm LCC package suited to embedded designs where board space is tight. The FME170X uses a 22.0 mm × 30.0 mm × 2.85 mm M.2 form factor for modular systems that need field-swappable connectivity.

consoles and cloud computers that require field-replaceable wireless
connectivity.

Both modules support tri-band Wi-Fi 7 across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Each radio chain delivers data rates up to 1,200 Mbps using 1024QAM modulation, with channel bandwidths as wide as 80 MHz. Dual-band simultaneous operation in a 1×1 + 1×1 configuration lets devices maintain separate connections for streaming and control traffic at once. The FME170X also adds an optional 2×2 MIMO configuration for applications that need additional throughput.

Bluetooth 6.0 and IoT Protocols Round Out the Feature Set

Alongside Wi-Fi 7, both modules integrate Bluetooth 6.0 with dual-mode BR/EDR and BLE support, LE Audio, 2 Mbps BLE, and Bluetooth Long Range. Quectel also built in High Accuracy Distance Measurement, a Bluetooth 6.0 feature intended for precise indoor positioning and asset tracking. IEEE 802.15.4 support brings Zigbee and Thread connectivity for Matter-compatible smart home devices. The modules are positioned as a single connectivity solution for products that would otherwise need separate radios for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and low-power mesh networking.

Targeting 4K/8K Streaming and Cloud Gaming

Quectel is positioning the modules for set-top boxes, VR/AR headsets, digital signage, smart gateways, conference terminals, intelligent projectors, and cloud computers. These devices increasingly need to handle 4K/8K video streaming, cloud gaming, and other latency-sensitive, high-bandwidth applications.

The company says the SYN4384-based modules are compatible with a broad range of host platforms and architectures. This includes x86, ARM, and MIPS designs built around chipsets from a broad range of suppliers. The modules are designed to run across both Linux and Android systems.

Quectel expects to begin shipping the FCE870X and FME170X in August 2026, with FCC, IC, CE, RCM, and SRRC certifications planned to support global deployment.
